Did you know that?

Matcha is a fine powder of special green tea, obtained from the Camellia sinensis plant. It is grown in the shade for 3-4 weeks (with the help of a rice and reed screen, which reduces the rate of photosynthesis and increases the level of theanine in the leaves – the amino acid responsible for their umami flavor); shortly after picking, the leaves are steamed for 15-20 seconds (to prevent them from oxidizing), which preserves their vivid green color; the next step is drying on a flat surface, removing the tails and veins of the leaves; what remains is ground and transformed into a fine powder, with the help of an automatic millstone. For 800 years, the traditional method of grinding matcha was manual.

Is matcha powder used not only to prepare tea, but also to flavor and color ice cream, noodles and Japanese sweets?

There are 3 main types of matcha powder, depending on the quality: the ceremonial one (higher quality, the most expensive), the premium one (which contains leaves from the top of the plant, has a sweet aroma and a fresh smell of grass) and the one used for cooked (the cheapest, has a slightly bitter taste)?

Does Matcha powder have 137 times more antioxidants than normal green tea? Among them are strong catechins, which are not found in other foods - like EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which fights cancer and counteracts the harmful effects of free radicals. Over 60% of the catechins in matcha are EGCGs.

Is a serving of matcha tea equivalent to 10 cups of regular green tea, in terms of nutrients?

Matcha helps metabolism, burns excess calories, detoxifies the body naturally and effectively, calms the mind, helps concentration, lowers blood sugar and cholesterol and is rich in chlorophyll, Vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium. In addition, matcha drinkers have energy throughout the day, thanks to the natural combination of properties of this green powder.
